What impact do you want to make on the world?

We are sure many of you have heard the term ”net positive” referenced to what you do as your career or your business, meaning that you are giving out more than what you take in.

Basically, a way of giving back and doing good in the world.

These may relate to positions where you focus on society, the environment, and the health of the global economy.

When making your career choice you will typically think about salary package, company culture, freedom, location etc – while all of this is very important, it is rare that job seekers think of what positive impact they want to have on the world through their career or business.

This is something we discuss a lot internally at Wild Dreams and we have our giving back initiatives for causes in both conservation and community that are aligned to what is important to us.

The purpose of this blog is to get you to think about this in your own life. We are sharing some journal prompts for you to reflect on exactly what this looks like for you.

Take some time to yourself without distractions and get a notebook and see what comes up…

What legacy do I want to leave behind in my career or business?

Whose lives do I want to positively impact, and in what ways?

What societal or environmental issues do I feel most passionate about? How could I integrate that passion into my work?

When people think about my career or business in the future, what words or phrases would I want them to associate with me?

What values are most important to me, and how do they align with the work I do or want to do?

How does the work I want to do align with the kind of world I want to live in?

What would my ideal community or customer base look like? How would I serve them?

How does my career choice prioritize not only personal growth but also the growth and development of others?

How does fulfilling my purpose contribute to the greater good?

If you enjoyed this process, we would love to hear from you!
