The final chapter of 2024! What a year it has been. We have been very busy behind the scenes with various initiatives, which we are excited to share with you in our spotlight today!
Careers in Conservation Day 2 Oct – This was the third annual Careers in conservation day that we were involved in. Each year Hayley talks to around 600 students about work-readiness. They get to learn about deciding on their career, application tips & much more. After the talk, the students also have the opportunity to come to chat to Hayley about their individual career paths, what an amazing opportunity for them!
Our involvement in the day was also in this article
VH Conference – The Vegan Hospitality conference that took place on 1 November for World Vegan Day was a great success, with over 200 people from around 40 different countries attending. Hayley interviewed Peter, the founder of Sashwa River of Stars which is a brand-new plant-based safari lodge. She also did a presentation on why certifications will be the future of the hospitality industry. A great event all around.
Vegan Hospitality – Vegan Hospitality, the company that Hayley has been COO of for 3 years has just transitioned to be a non-profit. This is a US-registered non-profit as this is a global organization but this new direction means that Hayley is now a co-founder! Read their impact report HERE.
Sashwa visit – Hayley & Dom had the privilege to visit Sashwa River of Stars as part of their Soft Launch. It was such a special experience seeing this special property and also catching up with two candidates that we placed there! Sashwa is a plant-based holistic lodge that offers a wide variety of experiences, ranging from guided meditations and yoga sessions to a creative art studio & star baths. A truly unique experience and can not wait to see how successful it will become in the future! You can learn more about Sashwa HERE and read our full blog HERE
WhatsApp community for job seekers for free – Our free WhatsApp community that we mentioned in our last newsletter is still going strong, Hayley has taken to sharing content often via voice notes or videos. Plus she has started answering a community member’s question every single week to provide even more value.
Wildly connected workshop – We recently did our first live workshop, this was designed to say goodbye to 2024 & welcome 2025! In this we reflected on the year, aligned with what we want for the new year, and dreamed (big!) on our goals & put in action steps in the planning phase. We recorded the workshop which you can check out HERE.
WhatsApp vegan jobs community – We have a Vegan Whatsapp community where we post vacancies and volunteer opportunities that are values aligned – to join us follow this LINK
Donation of the quarter – each quarter we donate to a worthy cause of our choice, this is a new initiative of ours, even though we have donated to many organizations over the years such as Greyton Farm Sanctuary, Umoya Khulua wildlife rehabilitation centre, Care for Wild to name a few. This quarter our donation went towards something a little different, as a Gofund me related to a tragic accident that touched our hearts. We will be sharing more details of the organizations we support in 2025!
So, what’s happening for 2025?
We love the start of a fresh new year, so we can realign our values with our plans! Our annual strategic planning session just took place & we have some BIG plans for the new year.
We truly believe that saying plans out loud can help us to manifest them but also hold us accountable so to let you all in on just a few of our giving back plans for 2025…
- Quarterly giveaways
- Work-ready workshops with hospitality students (we are in discussion with the Thornybush Community, Timbavati Foundation & Singita).
- Train the trainer model with the Timbavati Foundation.
