As we near January 1st, 2023, it’s exciting as it feels like it’s a fresh start and a new beginning.
It is however important to take the time to reflect on the year you have just had. When you do this, you can move forward in an intentional way and in a way that is in alignment with what you want and who you want to be. This will bring you more happiness and success in the upcoming year and who doesnt want more of that? I know I do!
I will be asking myself these questions this month as we near the end of 2022. I prefer to write them in a notebook, you can do that too or use notes on your phone, whatever works for you.
Before you start make sure you have scheduled a time to sit and do this without distractions, in a quiet and peaceful spot, get super comfortable. You want to really think about each question and not feel rushed to answer them.
You are really going to have to think back over your entire year, right back to as you entered 2022 full of the same hope and dreams you have now for the new year.
Write as little or as much as you feel is right for you and if you want to add questions to ask yourself then definitely do that too.
Ready? Let’s get started…
- What are 3 things I achieved this year?
- What am I most proud of myself for this year?
- What surprised me the most this year?
- What do I wish I had done more of this year?
- How did I step out of my comfort zone this year?
- How did it feel to step out of my comfort zone?
- What was disappointing this year?
- What did I spend time and energy on that wasn’t worth it?
- What are the top 3 lessons that I learnt?
- Who were my biggest supporters this year?
- In what ways did I support others?
- What am I most grateful for this year?
- If I had to pick just one word what word would sum up 2022?
Once you have answered all of the questions take time to read them back to yourself and let what you have written sink in, note how you feel.
If you are setting goals and intentions for 2023 then it may be a great time to do this now, otherwise wait a few days and come back to it and have your answers to hand when you do.
It’s also nice to use the same notebook as a journal for reflections each year that you do this so you can look back on what you have written each year.
If you found this helpful, we would love to hear from you, send us a direct message on Facebook or Instagram and let us know if you would like a goal setting blog in the near future.
